Travel and Join us on Senegal Summer 2024
It's not to late to grab a spot on a trip for this summer! June 16 - 27 or June 30 - July 11, 2024. All French language educators are welcome to join our trips in 2024. When we visit various cities, towns, and villages, we have the chance to interact with friends and family, as well as local schools, their teachers, and students. We also offer hands-on workshops in this all-inclusive trip. Our next informational meeting is December 13 at 20:00 EST. You need to sign up below to join the meeting.
Complete a survey for a chance to win $30
Complete this 2-4 minute survey before December 31, 2023 to be entered in a drawing for a $30 store credit to the Vive shop. We are looking to hear what YOU would love to see and do in Senegal. The winner will be announced on January 1, 2024.
Simplify your gift-giving or treat yourself
Check out our Vive shop online. We have pagnes, bags, and pillow cases made from West African wax fabric bought in Senegal. I love that the pagnes, while meant to be wrap-around skirts, can be repurposed as tablecloths, picnic blankets, and even as wall hangings. We will be adding a variety of new products over the next few weeks, so check back often.
Learn a new language for travel. When we travel to Senegal with Vive, we plan to immerse ourselves in French, but knowing a little Wolof can go a long way. You can study Wolof virtually, and maybe receive a $3000 stipend! This money and knowledge could be used on a trip to Senegal in 2025. Deadline to apply is April 19, 2024. Click on our link below for more details!
If you live in Kansas or the Great Plains region, you could pass along this opportunity [https://kasc.ku.edu/free-language-classes] for free Wolof classes for students in high school, community college, or minority serving institutions. Application deadline is December 18, 2023.
Add more francophonie to your classes

What was your favorite part of the travel? Following our return in July 2023, we asked this question to our participants. Here's one answer:
"There were so many favorites....I loved the drumming lesson, it was cultural and super fun at the same time […] the batik lesson, the school visits… Seriously, I can't really answer this question! I felt all the activities were special and memorable. [...] the best part was being immersed in French. It was something that I haven't done in a while and I forgot how necessary it is to keep up language skills. I feel rejuvenated as a teacher and feel that I got some of my passion back. I'm actually looking forward to going back this year and using what I learned, both with the language and the culture." - Courtney N.
