Vive l’expérience will review your application before clearing you for travel. We will work to offer spots to teachers in different parts of the state of Virginia, as well as those who teach at different levels K-16.
Vive will give priority in the order in which we receive applications and deposits, as well as to educators first. We will maintain a waitlist, if needed.
The program includes three meals a day, unlimited water, guides, air-conditioned buses, and all entrance fees. All you need is souvenir money. *Airfare is not included in the price estimate.
This trip has been specially-created with JoEllen Delamatta of Bonjour Friends, a French teacher in Fairfax Co. who has an established relationship with the Ministry of Education in Senegal and with VIve l’expérience.
Visit various schools at primary, secondary, and university levels. Connect 1-1 and in small groups with Senegalese students, teachers, artisans, and families through our school visits and village stays.
Discover drumming, batik, or dance through specially-tailored workshops just for our group. Try your hand at something new!
Together we will explore the products, practices, and perspectives that make Senegal unique. We will hold pre-departure meetings online before we travel.
Our participants agree to speak French during the entire trip. Our Trip Leaders are fluent in French & English (and some local languages) to help you get the most out of your experience.
Discover the local migratory birds and observe African game at la Réserve de Bandia
We will learn about Islam, visit mosques, churches, and cathedrals while we reflect on what we have in common.
Some stays will be air-conditioned with mosquito nets and private bathrooms with showers. Others may be more simple.
